In November 8, 2021, The Met Store unveiled The Heirloom Project, led by designer Madeline Weinrib. A New York-based icon in the world of textiles and home design, Madeline has been isnpired by the Met to create this exclusive collection with artisans around the world who are dedicated to keeping traditional techniques alive.
The initiative celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Met’s reimagined Islamic Wing by seeking engagement with global artisans who pursued historic techniques and design principles. Each piece celebrated art in The Met’s Islamic art collection, supported the Museum, and endeavored to preserve traditional craftmanship.
In this project Madeline Weinrib chose Monapetra for the jewelry category. Earrings in four different colors with the traditional poppy design were designed and produced by Monapetra. They are still available both in the Met Store and online shop. This was Monapetra’s dream and we are so happy to have it come true.
